Alvina (Giambartol­omei) Rondos, age 98, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023, in her home. She was the devoted wife to the late Andrew William Rondos for 72 years. She was born on March 20, 1925 in Tuckahoe, New York, daughter of the late Giovanni and Teresa (Calcina) Giambartol­omei. Alvina graduated from Eastcheste­r High School in 1943 and worked as a medical secretary for many years. Alvina lived a very active life, always keeping in touch with her family as well as her friends, old and new. She loved sending cards and almost never missed a special occasion. Alvina was a caretaker to everyone in her family who always put others before herself. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her sharp wit and snappy comebacks. Alvina enjoyed playing golf, pinocle, scrabble, bowling and loved doing crossword puzzles. Alvina is survived by her daughter Lynn (Rondos) Sawyer and her husband Broderick, son Craig Rondos and his wife Rosemarie, grandchild­ren Broderick Adam Sawyer, Rachel Sawyer-Walker and her husband Donald, Emily (Sawyer) Diggs and her husband Jordan, Matthew Rondos and his fiancée Katie Baker, and Zachary Rondos, and great-grandson Theodore

Emmit Diggs. She was predecease­d by her brothers Gelvino Giambartol­omei, Albiro Giambartol­omei, and Dominic Lomei. Friends are invited to attend Alvina’s funeral service on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 1 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton, CT. The family would like to give a special thank you to Alvina’s caretaker and friend, Paulette Reid, and to Connecticu­t Hospice for all of their care and support.
