Richard (Dick) Kearney

April 4, 1946 - December 30, 2023

-

We are saddened to share the news that our beloved Richard (Dick) Kearney passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, due to complications of pancreatitis.

Dick was born on April 4, 1946, in Trumbull, Connecticut. Dick graduated from Trumbull High School in 1964 and enlisted in the Air Force in January of 1966. Stationed in London, England, Dick served the Air Force for 3 years, and where his love of fine cars began, especially Jags, acquiring a Jaguar XKE convertible.

After returning to the United States in 1969, Dick decided to leave the snow of Connecticut in 1970 and move to the sunny seaside shores of San Diego, California. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Real Estate and immediately got his Real Estate Brokers license. At SDSU (go Aztecs!) he was a proud member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. Following college, Dick continued his education and received his Master’s degree in business from National University.

Over the next 50 years, Dick dedicated himself to the real estate industry in San Diego with his wife and life-long partner, Francine. Real estate was his career, golf his passion. He played many great courses around the world, most while sporting an impressive handicap. In 2018, now semi-retired,

Dick and Francine moved to Oregon to be close to their son and his family.

Dick is survived by his wife, Francine, son Brandon, daughter-in-law Jodi, a granddaughter Stella, a grandson Saxon, and by his brother and sister-in-law Doug and Nicole and his nephew and niece Brett and Taylor. Dick is also survived by his younger sister Maureen and her daughter Laura from Shelton, Connecticut. Dick was insightful but never arrogant, direct but always caring, a larger-thanlife man, loved by family, friends, and those fortunate enough to play a round, catch a ride, or just sit and talk with him about college football.

Services will be at Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral home in Bend, Oregon, at 11:00 a.m. on January 19, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of American or Boys Town.
