Daniel Miller Loh, 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at home in Southport, CT, comforted by his wife of 66 years, Martha (Patty) Livesay Loh. Born in Port Chester, NY on January 6, 1935, to the late Helen Phillips and Lester Jay Loh, Dan was the youngest of six sons; he was predecease­d by his brothers Les, George, Bob, Dick, and Frank.

Dan graduated from the Storm King School in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, where he is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Richmond, where he met Patty. He was the proprietor, along with his brothers, of Loh Brothers Esso and Loh Motors, both in Stamford, CT. In 1961, they opened Loh Ford, Inc. in Bridgeport, CT.

Dan participat­ed in many profession­al and community organizati­ons, including the CT Ford Dealers Advertisin­g Associatio­n, the Fairfield Lions Club, and the Fairfield RTM. He was a member of the Gaelic-American Club and a past member of the Fairfield Beach Club, the Patterson Club, and the Pequot Yacht Club. After retiring from the automobile business, he embarked on a much-loved career in the boating industry. Playing golf and boating with Patty as his first mate were favorite pastimes. Dan enjoyed many sports, both on the field and from his chair, and traveling the country to follow the athletic pursuits of his children, grandchild­ren, nieces, and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Patty and four daughters, Debra Jones (Casey), Sharon Oglesby (Bill), Nancy Shults (Pete), Diane Duane (Tom). Dan is also survived by 13 grandchild­ren, Betsy Jones, Emily Janocha (Don), Abigail Jones, Billy Oglesby (Lauren), Daniel Oglesby (Rachel), Charlie Oglesby, John Shults (Sarah), Anne O’Brien (Wes), Kate Dammer (Tim), Daniel Shults (Skyler), Rachael Schmid (Mike), Hannah Duane, Bruce Duane, along with 14 great grandchild­ren, his sister-in-law Averill Loh of Stowe, VT, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved and appreciate­d.

Above all, Dan, also known as Papa Bear, cherished time spent with his wife, his daughters and their families, and his many friends.

A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, January 26, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Spear~Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. A celebratio­n of life will be held on Saturday, January 27, at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregati­onal, Fairfield.
