John D. Walsh, age 68, passed away January 3, 2024, at Stamford Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 39 years to Diane (Mihelik) Walsh. John was born in Derby on July 8, 1955, son of Phyllis (Wakelee) Walsh and the late John W. Walsh and was a Shelton resident for most of his life. He was employed at Allen Products for over 25 years. During his career, he also worked at Thompson Gale Publishing, Deluxe Labs, Burt Processing and was self-employed until his retirement. He started out as a troop leader with the Cub Scouts Pack 27. He then transition­ed to the Boy Scouts where he served with the Boy Scout Troop 101, he served as Assistant Scoutmaste­r, Scoutmaste­r and Badge Counselor. John was a member of the Huntington United Methodist Church, where he served several times as the Church Trustee President. He participat­ed in Mission trips to New York City, Midnight Runs feeding the homeless, cooked many good meals on Good Friday, fish fry, and many Rally Day smoked pulled pork dinners. John also designed and built twin potato friers from scratch, which the church used to cook their famous potato Humkeys during Shelton Day for years. John was the beloved father of David J. Walsh; brother of

Sherry Walsh and her husband Matthew Davis, Debra Walsh and her husband G. Chris Dubois and Robert Walsh and his wife Lori; and brother-in-law of Janice Mihelik and Ken Wakeley; and the best friend of John Cook. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral memorial service on Saturday, February 3, at 11 a.m. in the Huntington United Methodist Church, 338 Walnut Tree Hill Rd., Shelton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Ed Strang Scout Reservatio­n, 278 West Side Road, Goshen, CT 06756.
