Brien Stephen Sullivan aged 70 (3-6-53 to 12-3-23), USMC, beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He succumbed to injuries sustained in an October car accident to the sorrow of his many relatives and friends. Brien attended the neighborhood grammar school, Thomas Hooker in Bridgeport, CT, along with a bevy of relatives, St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, CT, where he excelled in sports, including the swim team and track. Brien graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT, with a Bachelor’s in Recreation in 1975 and the Marine Corp Officer Training School in Quantico, Virginia, the same year. In the late 1970s, Brien became a U.S. Forest Service Ranger, in Everglades National Park. Brien entered the real estate field in the Fort Lauderdale area, buying, selling and renting various properties for over 40 years. He had a kind heart and often would overlook a late payment for a person in dire straits.

Brien is survived by his sister, Joan (Sullivan) Kelly of Boca Raton, FL; brothers, Joseph and Lenore Sullivan of Monroe, CT, Daniel and Lucille Sullivan of Milford, CT and John ( Jack) Sullivan of Riverside, Rhode Island; sister-in-law, Betty Sullivan; his long-time companion, Deb Jennings; and 20 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins. He was predeceased by parents, Joseph D. and Eugenia (McCallum) Sullivan; and older brother, Edward D. Sullivan; brother-in-law, Dick (Harry R.) Kelly, all of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Bridgeport, CT localities.

Brien was much-loved and practiced a positive outlook on life. Brien was always ready with a joke to lift people’s spirits. Throughout life’s ups and downs, Brien always helped other people and shared what he had. Brien played the cards fate dealt him well and with an amicable attitude. Brien’s kind heart, generosity, and positive outlook will be sorely missed by us all.
