Gilbert C. Buster departed this world on January 21, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 29, 1932, to William, Sr. and Geneva Buster.

He resided in Stratford, CT for 10 years prior to moving to Bridgeport, CT, where he resided for the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the US Army A&A Medic Unit and was Honorably Discharged after three years.

Buster attended public schools in Stratford and Bridgeport. He attended Warren Institute Business School and Housatonic Community College. He received a Diploma and an Associate’s Degree with Honors, respective­ly.

He was a Retired Bridgeport Police Sergeant, serving 27 years in various Divisions.

Buster was a member of the Retired Police & Firemen’s Associatio­n, the Police Associatio­n of CT, and the Police Sick Benefit Associatio­n.

He was a Charter Member of the Bridgeport, Stratford, and Milford Guardians, A Minority Police Fraternal Organizati­on, and was a Comrade in the American Legion Brigadier General Charles Young Post 140 for over 45 years, joining in 1972.

He was predecease­d by his beloved wife of 63 years, Floreen Hanson in 2019.

Survivors include his three children: Gary W. Buster, Pamela Buster and Dori Buster-Hanson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that donations be made to the: CT Police Foundation Scholarshi­p Program; The Bridgeport Rescue Mission; The American Red Cross, or The Salvation Army.

A funeral service will be held at Morton’s Mortuary Chapel, 25 Margaret E. Morton Ln. Bridgeport, CT 06607, on Tuesday, January 30th, with a viewing from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, CT.
