Lorraine McLaughlin (nee Bergstrom) passed away peacefully at her home in Easton, CT, on January 17, 2024. Born in 1926 in Seattle, Washington, to Elsa and Sam Bergstrom, who met in Alaska (Elsa was teaching Indians as a Missionary). Lorry inherited a sense of adventure. After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in nursing, Lorry enlisted in the Navy to see more of the world. During her service, she met her beloved husband, John, who was returning from the Korean War. John pre-deceased Lorry in 2005.

Lorry and John moved to Syracuse, NY and had three children: Elizabeth (Rutkin), Richard and Thomas, before settling in Easton in 1972. They became active members of the Easton Congregati­onal Church, where they made many good friends and enjoyed Bible study groups. Lorry had many interests, including reading, weaving, cooking, and gardening. Over the years, she also volunteere­d in the community for many local organizati­ons.

Lorry’s time with grandchild­ren, Abby (Rutkin) Klein, Eric Rutkin, Sam Rutkin, Maggie (McLaughlin) Kerins and Clare McLaughlin, forged lasting memories of love. More recently, she joyfully welcomed greatgrand­children, Carson Klein and John Kerins.

The memorial service for Lorry will be held at Easton Congregati­onal Church, 336 Westport Road, Easton, CT, on Saturday, March 2nd, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to join the family at the service.
