Martha (Sastram) Porto, age 81, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Born June 29th, 1942, to parents Ralph H. Sastram Sr. and Thelma Dixon Sastram. Marcy, as she was known to her friends, was raised in Bridgeport. She thoroughly enjoyed her childhood growing up in Bridgeport, playing in the woods and Johnson Creek with her brothers and neighborhood kids. She worked as a dental assistant until her children’s birth. She was a long time member of Olivet Church, where she served on committees and had many friends.

Marcy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carmen Porto Sr., and loving mother to Loni, Dena and her partner Robin and Carmen Jr. and wife Anna; four cherished grandchildren, Samantha and Sydney Cocca, Thomas and Stella Porto; beloved siblings, William Sastram and Bonnie Taylor;

dear sisters-in-law, Frances Sastram, Lucille Sastram, Barbara Thomas, and Pat Rood; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Ralph H. Sastram Jr. and Thomas B. Sastram; and sister, Olive Clark.

Marcy was a devoted mother who enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren who she cherished. Mom loved crocheting, reading and gardening. She got her passion for flowers and gardening as a child with her Dad.

We would like to thank Rose, Antonine, Mary and Maggie from Topnotch Care Services who helped us make it possible for our Mother to remain at home. We are forever grateful. Thank you to friends and family that have kept Mom in their prayers.

At Martha’s request, services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness in Martha’s memory would be most appreciated. Please visit www. pisteyfunerralhome.com to express condolences.
