Edward Paul Brady Jr.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Edward “Ed” Paul Brady, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84.

Ed was born in Manhattan, NY on May 10,1939 to Edward Paul Brady, Sr., and Eileen (Nichols) Brady. He is survived by the love of his life, Alice, to whom he was married for 60 years, and four children: Edward Brady, III and his wife Tracy, Debra Brady, Theresa (Brady) Cooper and her husband Chris, and Tim Brady and his wife Lauren. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph, Melissa and Alex Mansi, Taylor and Jared Brady and Tyler, Andrew, and Jack Cooper. He was predeceased by his younger sister, Anita (Brady) Penn and is survived by his older sisters, Eileen Brady and Cecilia (Brady) Mullen.

Ed grew up in New Rochelle, NY and moved his family to Danbury, CT where he lived and raised his family for 28 years. After his children were grown, he spent a few years in Des Moines, IA and Colchester, CT before finally settling in Monroe, CT.

Ed proudly served his country for 3 years as a draftsman in the U.S. Army. He then had a successful 45-year career in the heavy construction industry, starting as a surveyor and progressing to project engineer and project manager. He completed his career as a sales manager and consultant for an international concrete forming equipment supplier. Simultaneously with his career in heavy construction, he owned and operated a retail hobby shop in Danbury, CT for 10 years, fulfilling his love of trains, planes, and cars.

Despite his quiet demeanor, Ed’s love for his family spoke volumes. Ed was most expressive when spending time with and speaking of his wife, four children and eight grandchildren. Ed’s second love was boating. He had a passion for boats since his teenage years when he was part of the New Rochelle Rowing Club. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time on his boat, Brady’s Bunch and was actively involved in the Housatonic Boat Club holding positions of Secretary, Rear Commodore, and Commodore.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Wednesday, March 6 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. A Funeral Service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT with the burial to follow immediately thereafter.
