Ira S. Greene
Ira S. Greene (November 21, 1946 - March 6, 2024) passed away peacefully this week, surrounded by loved ones. Ira was a wellknown and accomplished bankruptcy attorney, an active and admired president/chairman/mentor of the Wine & Food Society, a husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Ira was celebrated in every area of his life and received many honors and awards for his work as a bankruptcy/ insolvency partner and as a respected leader in the Wine & Food Society. Most notably, Ira was awarded the Andre Simon Bronze Medal from the International Wine & Food Society, highlighting his work, mentorship, and extraordinary contributions to the IWFS in every capacity, and noting how he spearheaded fundraising and negotiated scholarships for students in need with renowned culinary programs. Ira maintained and cherished lasting friendships and touched so many lives with his kindness, patience, intelligence, and empathy. In recent years, Ira enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, encouraging their curiosity, and watching them grow. He was incredibly proud of them, and never missed an opportunity to show them off. Ira was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his sisters, Judy and Adriane, his wife, Robin, his children, Jess and Alex, his son-in-law, Jerry, and his grandchildren, Soren, Zuri, River, and Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, CT. Burial will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY 11704. For more information, visit www.greensfuneralhome.com .
