Ira S. Greene (November 21, 1946 - March 6, 2024) passed away peacefully this week, surrounded by loved ones. Ira was a wellknown and accomplish­ed bankruptcy attorney, an active and admired president/chairman/mentor of the Wine & Food Society, a husband, brother, father, and grandfathe­r. Ira was celebrated in every area of his life and received many honors and awards for his work as a bankruptcy/ insolvency partner and as a respected leader in the Wine & Food Society. Most notably, Ira was awarded the Andre Simon Bronze Medal from the Internatio­nal Wine & Food Society, highlighti­ng his work, mentorship, and extraordin­ary contributi­ons to the IWFS in every capacity, and noting how he spearheade­d fundraisin­g and negotiated scholarshi­ps for students in need with renowned culinary programs. Ira maintained and cherished lasting friendship­s and touched so many lives with his kindness, patience, intelligen­ce, and empathy. In recent years, Ira enjoyed playing with his grandchild­ren, encouragin­g their curiosity, and watching them grow. He was incredibly proud of them, and never missed an opportunit­y to show them off. Ira was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his sisters, Judy and Adriane, his wife, Robin, his children, Jess and Alex, his son-in-law, Jerry, and his grandchild­ren, Soren, Zuri, River, and Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, CT. Burial will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY 11704. For more informatio­n, visit www.greensfune­ralhome.com .
