Aurelia Elizabeth Donofrio, age 79, of Westport, CT, beloved wife of Robert Donofrio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Anthony and Aurelia Grace Kopcso Meszaros, she had been a Westport resident for the past 35 years.

Aurelia attended Buffalo College (Daemon University, then called Rosary Hill) and later Fordham University and graduated with her master’s degree in business, Class of 1966. She went on to her career as an analyst for the Shell Oil Co. and later for the Equitable Life Insurance Co. until her retirement. Aurelia enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, and her visits to the beach, as well as the arts, including shows and concerts at Westport Country Playhouse. She loved cooking her Hungarian specialtie­s, and she also embraced the Italian cuisine and tradition of her husband’s family. She cherished sharing time with her pets and had a love for all animals. More than anything else, she treasured spending time with her family, and cheering on her children and grandchild­ren’s sporting events and school teams. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her loving husband, Bob, survivors include her sons, Bobby Donofrio and his wife, Megan, and their three children Harper, London, and Hayes of Fairfield, CT, and Stephen Donofrio and his wife, Annie, and their son, Woodson of Pelham, NY, along with a special cousin who was more like a sister, Barbara Chavous of Aiken, SC, her cousin, Joan Dish of Ossining, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at the Frank Polke & Son Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield, on Sunday, March 17th, from 4-7 p.m. and at 9:15-10:15 a.m. on Monday, March 18th. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 18th, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 49 Turkey Hill Rd., North, Westport. Burial to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Following the Funeral Services, the family would like to invite all attendees to a lunch reception in Aurelia’s Honor at 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted; memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Connecticu­t Humane Society.
