SOUTHBURY - Ruth Elizabeth (Steimel) Gracer, 89, of Southbury, loving wife of the late Victor Gracer, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Ruth was born on April 6, 1934, in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Emil and Irma (Correll) Steimel. After graduating high school, Ruth married Victor on June 11, 1955. Ruth was a talented hairdresse­r for many years, known for her exceptiona­l skill and warm personalit­y. In addition to her profession­al accomplish­ments, she was also a crossword puzzle aficionado, avid reader, and gifted artist, creating beautiful land and seascape paintings. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, Nana was always prepared to sneak a sweet treat to the kids or enjoy a drink with her family and friends while playing games of poker and pinochle. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her son, Michael Gracer and his wife, Amy; daughter Sally Gracer Swaw; four beloved grandchild­ren, Alexander Gracer, Abigail Gracer, Bethany Gracer, and William Gracer; as well as two great-grandchild­ren,

Wesley Hannigan and Silas Goulet. In addition to her husband, Victor, Ruth was predecease­d by her brother Walter Steimel and grandson Samuel Gracer. In honor of Ruth's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private Celebratio­n of Life will be held at the convenienc­e of the family.
