Where UConn stars land in the latest NBA mock drafts
The UConn men’s basketball team will soon have at least two more NBA players to call its own.
The lottery for the 2024 NBA Draft will be held Sunday afternoon in Chicago with teams hoping they land a high pick and potentially draft a franchise-altering players.
Until the order is known Sunday, prognosticators have been drawing up mock drafts projecting the order.
Two UConn players, Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingan have been showing up as top 10 picks in most of these mock drafts.
Castle, a 6-foot-6-inch guard, was the unanimous Big East Freshmen of the Year, averaging 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
The 7-2 Clingan, a Bristol native, was pivotal in UConn’s national championship runs the past two seasons. The sophomore stepped into a starting role this year and averaged13 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.
The draft will take place in Chicago, June 26-27.
So, where might the UConn stars land? Here’s where they land in mock drafts that dropped over the past few days.
The CBS mock draft had Castle going third to the Charlotte Hornets and Clingan going sixth to the Toronto Raptors.
Sports Illustrated projects Castle going fourth to the Washington Wizards and Clingan heading to The Memphis Grizzlies at No. 7.
And Bleacher Report has Castle at No. 5 to the Portland Trailblazers and Clingan going to Toronto at No. 6.
UConn’s Cam Spencer, Tristen Newton and Alex Karaban are projected as second round picks. Karaban has retained his college eligibility and could return to UConn.
