Norwalk Oyster Festival sets dates for 46th season

- By Daniel Figueroa IV

The Norwalk Oyster Festival this summer returns for its 46th season.

The annual event recently posted its 2024 dates to the Norwalk Seaport Association’s website. This year, the festival runs the first weekend in September: Sept. 6, 7 and 8. The festival runs from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors to the festival can spend the three days exploring the event’s fairground with carnival rides games, and its “International Food Court.” According to the seaport website, the festival will feature Mexican, Colombian and Italian foods, along with cotton candy, funnel cakes and, of course, New England Classics like lobster dinners and the eponymous oysters.

Entertainment acts have not been announced for this year’s festival. Last year, metal band Mullet closed the Friday show and Rascal Flatts singer Gary LeVox closed Saturday.

Sunday’s headliner in 2023 was John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. The festival has previously featured acts like the Village People, Little Richard, Bo Bice and this year’s Milford Oyster Festival headliners, Little Feat.

The festival takes place in Norwalk’s Veteran’s Memorial Park. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for adults over the age of 65 and $5 for children ages 512. Children under 5 years old are free to enter. All children get in free on Sunday with an adult ticket.
