Henry Francis Jemioto

Henry Francis Jemioto, age 83, of Ansonia entered into rest on Tuesday June 12, 2018 in Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side. He is the devoted husband of 55 years to Sandra Ellen (Flood) Jemioto. Henry was born in Derby on December 31, 1934, son of the late Joseph and Emma (Mikos) Jemioto and was a resident of Ansonia for 53 years. Henry started his career 35 years ago teaching History and Science at Bradley School and Derby Middle School in Derby. In 1970, he was honored to receive the CT Teacher of the Year award. He later became the principal of Irving School in Derby, a position he held for 25 years until his retirement. He was dedicated to education and teaching, which was prevalent by his involvement with the Derby Adult Education program for 40 years; running the Summer School and Driver’s Education Programs for the Derby School System. In addition, after retirement he spent many years tutoring homebound students. He was a recipient of the Spirit of St. Mary-St. Michael Award in 2011. Henry’s faith was also very important to him. He was an active member of St. Michael Church. During this time he was a Eucharistic Minister, who proudly served many funerals, as well as helped at the annual Fun Fest picnics. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed trips to the casino and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is the beloved father of Sandie Satkowski and her husband Paul and Ellen DeMagistris and her husband Alfonso, loving grandfather of Allyson and Andrew Satkowski and Anna DeMagistris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Joseph Jemioto, Sr. and Edward Jemioto.

Friends may call on Friday, June 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday June 16, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Derby.
