March 2, 1958 - August 19, 2018 ”Tend the garden that you seeded, be a friend when a friend is needed, and you won’t have to look the other way.” - Four Tops song

Renée Louise Daley, age 60, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 19, 2018, in the arms of her husband, Michael Thomas Daley. Having been surrounded by her loving family and friends, her inspiring two-and-a-half year battle with cancer ended – a battle in which she bravely accepted any and all attempts to thwart the disease.

Renée was born in San Francisco, CA in March of 1958, daughter of the late Christine L. Ruggiero and Alton A. Perkins, and sister of Michelle. She met her husband in California in 1981 and ultimately settled in Southport, CT. Renée brought into this world three beautiful children – Christine, Shane and Alexandra – and rescued countless dogs along the way (sometimes three at a time!) to enrich the lives of her family.

Later in life, Renée renewed her real estate ambitions and joined Al Fillipone Associates – William Raveis. She blessed that office with her sense of humor and incessant musical outbursts, developing close friendships with fellow agents as well as clients.

Throughout the years, Renée’s passions were, first and foremost, her kids; her amazing circles of friends; her pets and overall animal welfare; breaking out into song, full throttle, at the slightest of cues; her impressive vegetable garden and magical backyard; her vacations; and cooking and eating. Even during the darkest hours in her fight against cancer, the anticipation of a special meal, the playing of a favorite song, or the touch of a dear friend would bring a smile to her face.

Renée’s ashes will be spread by her family at various locales that were of great importance to her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. (hospice.com/donations/giftdonation-2/) or The Woodstock Farm Sanctuary (woodstocksanctuary.org/our-mission/).

We find solace in the fact that her indomitable spirit lives on in our cherished memories of her joy and laughter, in the kindness and mannerisms of her children, and in the hearts of all of those she touched over the years. She made all of us better.

We love you forever, Weez!
