May 20, 1927- Aug 15, 2018 Reverend Monsignor Louis A. DeProfio, age 91 of Stamford, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2018, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Louis DeProfio was born in Bridgeport on May 20, 1927 the youngest of seven children of Luigi and Lucia (D’Ostillio) DeProfio. He is survived by his sister, Philomena and predecease­d by his brothers; Angelo, Carl, Joseph, Dominic, and Philip. Following his graduation from Central High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and upon returning from combat began his priestly formation. He was ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Bridgeport on May 10, 1956.

He began as Parochial Vicar at St. Raphael in Bridgeport and was instrument­al in forming a Jazz Band, Buccaneers and Marionette­s Drum and Bugle Corps. He was Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart in Stamford before being appointed Diocesan Director of the CYO and director of Social Action. Along with Administra­tor of St. Margaret’s Shrine, Msgr. DeProfio directed the second Synod in 1971 and Chaired Faith in the Future diocesan capital campaign in 1995. Other churches he served were St. Charles and Assumption Parishes. In 1971, Monsignor became pastor of St. Theresa Parish in Trumbull where he served until 2003. Thereafter he served as Director of Queen of the Clergy Residence.

Msgr. DeProfio’s body will be received at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. and will lie in repose until a Vigil Mass at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Theresa Church.
