RICH­MOND, Va. — Kha­didi­a­tou Diouf just missed a dou­ble-dou­ble with 17 points and nine re­bounds to lead the Stags in the team’s sea­son-opener.

Fair­field (1-0) led buzzer-to-buzzer and held on for the win, de­spite scor­ing just three points in the fourth quar­ter.

Sam Lewis added 11 points and Katie Arm­strong scored 10 for the Stags, while Alex Par­son was the only player to reach dou­ble fig­ures in scor­ing with 15 points in the loss for the Spi­ders (0-1).


Sa­cred Heart 4, Army West Point 2: Ryan Steele, Marc John­stone, Austin McIl­mur­ray and Ja­son Cot­ton each scored one goal and Brett Mag­nus made 28 saves in goal in the win for the Pi­o­neers (2-3-1, 2-1 AHA) at West Point, N.Y.


Bridge­port 2, Stone­hill 1: Anisha Hill scored an unas­sisted goal in the first half, Mae­gen Doyle scored an unas­sisted goal on a penalty kick in the sec­ond half and Jen­nifer Wen­delius made eight saves in goal in the win for the Pur­ple Knights (15-4-1) in the first round of the NCAA Divi­sion II Re­gional tour­na­ment at Knights Field in Bridge­port. Bridge­port ad­vances to host the Col­lege of St. Rose in the sec­ond round on Sun­day at 11 a.m.


Dae­men 3, Bridge­port 1: El­lie Rich had 33 as­sists, nine digs and six kills, Bre­anna Jones had 19 digs and Mor­gan Knight had 11 digs and seven kills in the loss for the Pur­ple Knights (14-13) in the ECC semi­fi­nals at Lums­den Gym­na­sium in Amherst, N.Y.

Sa­cred Heart 3, St. Fran­cis (Pa.) 0: Sarah Ciszek had 35 as­sists, 17 digs and four kills, Alix Polk had 12 kills and 12 digs and Li­isel Nelis had 15 kills and nine digs in the win for the Pi­o­neers (15-9, 8-5 NEC) at DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pa.
