Maurena E. Westberg

Maurena E. (nee Stevens) Westberg of Fairfield, Connecticut, age 89, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. Mrs. Westberg was born to Edna and Fay Stevens in Milo, Maine on January 12, 1929 and moved to Fairfield as a young bride, where she resided for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Westberg was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was to provide for her family. Mrs. Westberg was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bridgeport and served several terms as the treasurer for the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Stratfield.

Mrs. Westberg was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Vernon E. Westberg, her daughter Robin Westberg; her sisters Priscilla Chase and Barbara Redfield; and her brothers Albion and Fay Stevens. She is survived by her children Linda Osuch of Woodbury, Connecticut, Eric Westberg (Suzanne) of Piscataway, New Jersey, Joyce Onufer of Inman, South Carolina, and Cynthia Detuzzi of Fairfield; her sisters Jean Amero (Ronald), Sara Richards, and Gwen Bradeen (Paul) of Milo, Maine and her sister Jacquelyn Smith (Gordon) of Carmel, Maine; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to publicly thank our sister Cyndi Detuzzi for giving such loving care to our mother Maurena for all these years. We are forever grateful.

A Funeral service will take place at Larson Funeral Home on Sunday, December 16, 2018 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Westberg’s memory be made to the Milo Fire Department, 6 Pleasant St., Milo, Maine 04463.
