Evelyn F. Dwyer

Evelyn Francis (Dzunko) Dwyer, age 87, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest on January 12, 2019 at Bridgeport Hospital, with her grandson Zachary Pough by her side. Evelyn was born in Bridgeport on March 18, 1931 to the late Michael and Anna Dzunko and has been a life long area resident. She graduated from Harding High School class of 1949, and attended Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in 1951, going on to do private duty nursing for over thirty years. She loved to travel either by bus or plane. Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, William Dwyer, her devoted children, Kathleen Dwyer Pough, and Janet Dwyer, grandchildren, Zachary Pough, Michael and Daniel Varga, son-in-law, Steven Varga, several nieces and nephews, and longtime friend, Joyce Bruno. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was pre-deceased by her daughter, Sharon Dwyer Varga. As a family, we feel at peace that Evelyn is now with her beloved daughter, who she has missed dearly the past two months. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
