SPECIAL FARE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS
The Barnum Festival will hold a free-admission day for people with special needs at the Discovery Museum later this month.
“A Special Day for Special Needs” will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23 at the museum, 4450 Park Ave.
Planned attractions include full volume planetarium shows, no volume visually spectacular shows, visually stimulating live science demos with sensory interaction, and an opportunity to meet and greet a talented artist with disabilities around 1 p.m. and view their exhibit.
People who are differently abled and their support will be admitted to the museum for free.
“We are excited to offer the community this new program that perfectly aligns with this year’s Barnum Festival theme: Everyone Counts,” said Marty Schwartz, a Fairfield resident and the ringmaster of the 2019 Barnum Festival, in a release. “In addition, we are very grateful to The Discovery Museum for opening up their wonderful educational resource to the public and promoting activities that are inclusive.”
Part of the proceeds from this year’s Barnum Festival will go to benefit children with special needs, according to the release.
