Bivins Realty returns to Bridgeport
Real estate broker Teasha Bivins says she is looking to help Bridgeport grow one homeowner at a time.
“Things are bubbling in the background … and I wanted to be a part of it,” said the owner and founder of Greenwichbased Bivins Realty Group, which recently opened a new office in the Park City at 1000 Lafayette Blvd.
“There are a lot of hardworking people here that deserve to be able to buy a home and all they need is a little guidance,” she added.
Though it serves as an expansion for her company, Bivins said the move feels more like a homecoming as she looks to serve the city where it all began.
She first opened the brokerage in 2007 at 4270 Main
St. in Bridgeport before moving to lower Fairfield County years later. The Bridgeport native said she still has family residing locally.
“It feels good,” Bivins said. “I’ve been trying to get back here for a while and trying to do it at the right time.”
Touting almost 20 years in the real estate industry, the Westport resident, who is also the wife of Michael Bivins, entertainer and founding member of New Edition, said she wants to offer people in her hometown guidance toward buying a home.
Along with traditional real estate services, Bivins said her Bridgeport office will also host seminars and workshops to help increase knowledge of programs that can repair credit scores and assist potential buyers with creating a solid plan toward real estate goals.
“Once people know where they are, I think that will open up more people to purchasing,” she said.
The company will be hosting an onsite preapproval event in January 2020 that would allow prospective attendees to schedule a free consultation for a loan preapproval by emailing office@bivinsrealitygroup.com or calling 2035427335.
The firm is also certified for foreclosure prevention and as short sell specialists, according to Bivins. She said her agents can help people keep their homes or help them sell their homes before foreclosure.
Bivins also said she also wants to tap into local organizations like Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust to help with projects. The nonprofit played a role in Bivins Realty Group getting a HUD contract to relocate 75 families when Marina Village was redeveloped, according to Bivins.
“We want to help as many people with a desire for home ownership make their dream a reality,” she said in a news release. “A lot of the time, people fail to pursue home ownership because they aren’t sure about how much their down payment and closing costs will be, or if their credit score is high enough. You won’t know until you take the first step.”
