Greenwich’s Shattenkir­k latest Cup winner from state

As the Tampa Bay Lightning captured the Stanley Cup with a victory over the Dallas Stars Monday night, Kevin S hat ten kirk became the latest Connecticu­t native to win an NHL title.

S hat ten kirk was born in Greenwich and raised in New Rochelle, N.Y. , but played in the Mid-Fairfield program and at B runswick. The 10- year veteran played for Colorado, St.

Louis, Washington, and the Rangers before joining the Lightning this season.

On Monday, he became the eighth player from Connecticu­t to win the Stanley Cup since Cheshire’ s Brian Le et ch not only led the New York Rangers to the 1994 title but also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs.
