John (Jack) R. Kochiss

-

John (Jack) R. Kochiss, age 81, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Tuesday January 5th, 2021. He was born in Bridgeport & was a lifelong Fairfield resident. Jack was kind hearted, but tough as nails. He was fascinated by nature & loved animals, especially his many pets throughout the years. He loved growing up on the family farm & spending time at his house in Vermont. A champion roller skater, vintage car & tractor enthusiast/collector, long time Ironworker & union member (Local 424), Jack also drove tractor trailers, the most notable drive in our memory being the Magna Carta’s tour across the United States in 1987. He was a proud patriot & member of Veteran’s Club “Port 5”, & spent many nights with friends at the Norden Club. He always kept busy, and continued working up until his last day, thoroughly enjoying his job with the Town of Fairfield & “his” town truck. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Lou Kochiss, and survived by his sisters Kathy Cioffi & Shirley Roviello, his son Jack Kochiss Jr., daughters Dawn Kochiss, Pam Kochiss & youngest Katie Kochiss, his grandchildren Karie Kochiss & Stephen Andrulat & by his great-grandson Joshua Parfan. Close Family include Roy Kochiss, Jody Gleacher, Drew Gleacher, Colby Gleacher, Kim Audino & Donna Cioffi. There is a huge hole where he once was, and he is incredibly missed. His favorite charities to donate to were Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Hospital & the ASPCA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of his or your choice. Services will be held in the spring.
