Josephine (Miceli) Rino, 88, of Shelton, CT, passed away April 11, 2021 after a brief illness. She was predecease­d by her husband of 63 years, Ralph Rino, who passed away in February 2021.

Josephine will be sadly missed by her children Antoinette (Toni) Mallozzi and her husband Antonio, Anthony and his wife Joanne and Anne Marie who predecease­d her mother. She will be missed by her beloved sister, Mary Anagnou of New Jersey. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchild­ren Stephanie Wandell and her husband Rich, Matthew Mallozzi and his girlfriend Lori Esposito, Isabella Rino, Nicholas Raffaele Rino and Gabriella Marin who predecease­d her grandmothe­r.

Josephine was born on October 13, 1932 in Calabria, Italy, daughter of Italo Miceli and Guiseppina (Barberio) Miceli. Josephine immigrated to the United States in 1956 and began her life in Schenectad­y, NY. Josephine married Ralph in 1957 and then moved to Brooklyn, NY where she raised her three children. After moving to Bridgeport, CT several years later Josephine continued to raise her family while helping her husband in the family restaurant business. Josephine is remembered for her love of family, love of music, wonderful cooking, singing and dancing and always having an open door. Josephine welcomed others with open arms and believed that faith, food and laughter was better when it was shared.

We would like to thank all our family and friends for their prayers, love and support. The family would like to especially thank the wonderful caregivers at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT where she was taken care of during her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s name can be made to St. Margaret’s Shrine in Bridgeport, CT.
