Yale New Haven Health offering boosters for immunocomp­romised

Yale New Haven Health announced Thursday that it would begin scheduling third doses of the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for eligible patients.

Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that immunocomp­romised individual­s who have received both doses of either the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines now are eligible for a third dose. Specifical­ly, recipients of solid organ transplant­s and others who are moderately or severely immunocomp­romised and received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are advised to receive a third dose of that vaccine at least four weeks following their second dose.

The CDC’s latest guidance on the

third dose does not apply to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Eligible patients can schedule their appointmen­t for a third dose on the Yale New Haven website. Individual­s are able to see all the locations, dates and times available and which vaccine is being offered. They should select the same vaccine as the previous two doses and ensure they are at least four weeks from their second dose.

All Yale New Haven Health-administer­ed vaccines will be scheduled at the following Northeast Medical Group offices:

1 4A Devine St., North Haven.

1 112 Quarry Road, Trumbull.

1 1152 Kings Highway Cutoff, Fairfield.

1 500 W. Putnam Ave, Greenwich.

1 500 Elm St., West Haven.

1 194 Howard St., New London.

Hours are being expanded at these locations to accommodat­e vaccinatio­ns, officials said in a release.
