Russell M. Wickett, Jr., 83, passed away October 29, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center with his family by his side. The son of Russell and Joan Bickford Wickett, he was raised in Greenwich and New Canaan, CT, and graduated from Anderson School, Cheshire Academy, and the University of Bridgeport. His career in social work included employment by the State of Connecticu­t Welfare Department and Mental Health Connecticu­t. During the 1970’s, Russell establishe­d Crystal Ball Studios in Greenwich, an innovative program in which profession­al musicians provided music education to high school students. In recent years, Russell worked at Prometric Testing and also performed piano concerts of Broadway show tunes at local assisted living facilities. He is survived by his daughter Linda Hughes (Frederick) of Southingto­n, his son Curt Wickett (Julie Morneau) of Shelton, his longtime partner Susan Zaveruha of Easton, his grandchild­ren Ian Hughes, Shana Wickett, Bryn Bowen, and Deanna Scaife, his sister Linda Maynard of Apex, NC, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew. Russell was preceded in death by his brother Robert and a sister Joanna. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., with the Rev. Curtis Farr, Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fairfield, officiatin­g. Interment will be private.
