CHAMPIONSHIP GAME APPEARANCES

WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Simsbury has a storied tournament pedigree, but it’s been quite some time since the Trojans have made it to the final weekend. Simsbury got past CCC rival E.O. Smith in penalty kicks to reach the final. St. Joseph went unbeaten during the FCIAC season, behind the play of Mary Lunderegan and Alexa Pino. The Cadets are coming off a 4-0 win over Waterford in the semifinals. Simsbury needs to rely on its solid defense — 11 shutouts thus far — to keep it close, get an early lead and keep Pino and Lundregan under wraps in order to pull the upset.

YOU SHOULD KNOW

St. Joseph’s only loss was in penalty kicks in the FCIAC tournament semifinals against Staples.
