Phyllis A. Fagan

-

Phyllis Arlene Fagan, 84, of Meriden, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 9, 2022. Phyllis was born on October 13, 1937 in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Corris. She grew up in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1955.

She was the beloved wife to the late George Cunningham Fagan. Together, she and George owned the Rotary Diner of Stratford, Fagan’s Restaurant of Stratford, and The Craig Loch Manor of Meriden. Phyllis was a master behind the scenes—she helped kept the restaurants running like well-oiled machines. Her knack for planning shone through her work later at the Yale Motor Inn, where she served as a banquet manager and enjoyed helping couples plan their weddings. After leaving the restaurant business, she became a CNA and cared for scores of patients at The Masonicare Home of Wallingford.

Phyllis’s greatest joy was spending cherished time with her friends and her family. She was a loving mother and wife, and dedicated herself to caring for her loved ones. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with people, getting to know them, and doing everything she could to make them feel welcome; she could make a new friend anywhere. Her calendar was always full of dates with friends and loved ones. She especially loved to share her love for travel with family and friends, and took memorable trips to Ireland, Italy, and Austria.

Phyllis will be dearly missed by her children, Gary Fagan and his wife Donna of Southington; Glenn Fagan and his partner Sandy Belanger of Meriden; Carolyn Butler and her husband Scott of Jacksonville, FL; her 6 grandchildren, Kaylyn, Margaret and Daniel Fagan, Scot, Tara and Kyle Butler; her sister Joan Spry of Kingston, New Hampshire; her 3 nieces and 7 grandnieces and nephews; and by her special friends Diane Cox and Jan Hyde who selflessly devoted hours helping run errands and coordinate her care.

Calling hours will be Saturday, January 29, 2022, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a prayer service to follow at 1pm., at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phyllis’s favorite charities, St. Jude or the American Lung Assoc. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.dellavecchiasouthington.co
