Robert Jerry Yakoubian, age 77, of Stratford, beloved husband of Maryanne Yudichak Yakoubian, passed away on January 15, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital. Bob was born in Bridgeport on August 20, 1944, to George and Anna (Calabritto) Yakoubian and had been a lifelong Stratford resident. Bob was a graduate of Bunnell High school in Stratford. He went to CT school of electronics in New Haven before entering the police academy. Bob was a devoted police officer for over 35 years for the Stratford police department. He was a Detective for most of his career and continued as a constable after his retirement. Bob AKA Mr. Yak was always the kind of police officer that would go out of his way to help and give you a second chance, or even a third. Bob was an active member of the Stratford Baptist Church, where his dedication went beyond Sunday service. Bob, taking after his father, was quite the handyman. He owned Stonybrook hardware and managed his family’s property Stonybrook center for years. Bob looked forward all year to make his annual Disney vacations a magical memory that his family and friends would never forget. He couldn’t wait to ride It’s a Small World. It was mostly the simple things that Bob enjoyed. A Pinochle game with friends, a visit to his son-in-law’s cafe for a free lunch and ginger-ale, a trip to Maine to walk the beaches, a weekend in Sturbridge Village to admire the foliage or his never-ending quest for a good hot dog. Bob loved nothing more than a visit from his daughter, Granddaughters and his son in-law who was like a son to him. Bob was never more comfortable than being at home (a house his father built) with his wife, his high school sweetheart. Just eating a delicious home cooked meal and watching tv. Bob touched the lives of many and will deeply be missed. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 52 years, include his cherished daughter, Amy Miranda and her husband John of Easton, CT, loving granddaughters, Rachel and Julia, brothers, Peter (Zana) of Grove City, Ohio, and Thomas (Cindi) of Enfield, CT, sister, JoAnn Belovitch of Stratford, brother-in-law, Robert Yudichak (Barbara) of Middlebury, CT, sisters-in-law, Irene Adzima of Arcadia, FL and Bettye Yakoubian of Little Rock, AR, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, George, sister, Irene and brother-in-law Gregory Adzima. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, January 27th from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
