Natacha “Nat” Sylander passed away Monday, May 23 at the age of 86. Nat was born June 23, 1935 in Auburn, NY the only child to Joseph and Mary (Adair) Danksha. She graduated from Holy Family Catholic School and went on to get her bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Michigan State. After graduating from college, Nat moved to Chicago to work at The Palmer House.

In 1960 she married Richard “Dick” Sylander and became a stay-at-home mom. In 1967, the family moved east to start the next chapter of their lives in Westport where they would live for 44 years. She was a teaching assistant at Bedford Elementary School before starting a company with Dick in 1976 called R.L. Sylander Associates, Inc., for custom computer circulatio­n fulfillmen­t, which they ran for 25 years until they retired.

Nat was also active in the Westport community and especially enjoyed her time as president of the Westport Woman’s Club and chair of the Yankee Doodle Fair. She was a member of St. Luke’s Church Choir for many years. Nat was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain, with a flair for storytelli­ng.

Nat is survived by her children, Rick Sylander of Milford, Karen Sylander of Chicago and Beth Sylander of Long Island; as well as a grandson, Owen Hammond, who is serving overseas in the U.S. Army.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM, meeting directly at St. Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North, Westport, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends are invited to attend a reception at the church immediatel­y following the Mass. Interment will be private. Condolence­s for the family may be left online at www. hardingfun­eral.com .
