Maximino Pires Monteiro, age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Elsa Gomes Monteiro, passed away peacefully on Monday, September, 26, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born on February 21, 1937 in Ardãos, Portugal, he was a son of the late Domingos Monteiro and Lepondina Alves Pires. Along with his family, they immigrated to the United States in 1974 and settled in Bridgeport. A hard-working man, he was a laborer working for Waters Constructi­on for many years before his retirement. He loved making wine and always shared it with his family and friends; and could often be found tending to his garden and had a love for all animals. But above all things, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfathe­r. He loved to spend time with his family and create a lifetime of memories. Family was very important to him; and his smile would light up a room when his grandchild­ren were with him. The unconditio­nal love he gave and the strong values he taught will forever live in their hearts. Maximino will be deeply missed by all who loved him. In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Elsa, survivors include his six loving children, Laurinda Monteiro, Maria Fatima Antunes and her husband, Manny, Carlos Monteiro and his wife, Cristina, Abelino Monteiro and his wife, Loretta,

Paulete Murras and her husband, Manny and David Monteiro and his companion, Marielle; six cherished grandchild­ren, Brandon Antunes, Timothy Monteiro, Jonathan Antunes, Tiffany Monteiro, Cristiano Monteiro and Madison Monteiro; a brother, Joao Monteiro; a sister, Rosa Monteiro; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by a sister, Isabella Chaves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
