SWIMMING & DIVING TOP PERFORMANCES
Lily Archibald, Ridgefield: Archibald led off the 400 freestyle relay, which set an FCIAC record of 3:28.79, as the Tigers won the FCIAC championship. The sophomore was also first in the 100 butterfly (55.17), and was part of the runner-up 200 medley relay (1:47.65).
Julia Barto, Cheshire: The junior earned Most Outstanding Performer honors after winning four events at the SCC finals. She won the 200 freestyle (1:52.68) and 100 butterfly (57.14), and was part of the winning 200 medley (1:47.32) and 400 freestyle (3:39.28) relays.
Jade Casey, Glastonbury: The junior captured the CCC East Division diving crown with a score of 238.80 to help the Guardians win the team championship.
Hannah Chuckas, Westhill/Stamford: The senior captured the FCIAC diving championship with a score of 440.75 at the conference final Wednesday at Westhill.
Lauren DeGennaro, Woodland: DeGennaro, a sophomore, had two wins and two runner-up finishes as Woodland won the NVL championship. She was part of the winning 200 medley (1:54.58) and 400 free (3:44.67) relays, and was second in the 500 (5:03.74) and 200 (1:54.02) freestyles.
Addison Fulling, Fitch co-op: The sophomore won the 200 IM (2:21.50) and 500 freestyle (5:35.50) as Fitch was second at the ECC championships. She was also part of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:50.30).
Megan Gangaway, East Hartford: The senior was a doublewinner at the CCC East Division Championships, taking first place in the 200 individual medley (2:18.91) and 500 freestyle (5:16.64).
Audrey Gil, Joel Barlow: The sophomore won the 50 freestyle (24.46) and 100 freestyle (53.12) at the SWC finals.
Ava Gravgaard, Brookfield: The junior won the SWC diving championship with a score of 411.10, finishing nearly 37 points in the lead.
Olivia Herbert, Bethel-Immaculate: Herbert, a senior, won the 200 freestyle (1:56.70) and 100 butterfly (57.74) and was part of the third-place 400 freestyle relay (3:45.94) and fourth-place 200 medley relay (1:54.80) at the SWC finals.
Lauren Hinckley, East Lyme: The senior was crowned the ECC diving champion after scoring 311.00 at the league championships on Saturday. She also took first place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:45.58) and was second in the 200 medley relay (2:00.11) to help the Vikings win the title.
Avery Kudlac, Glastonbury: The senior earned Swimmer of the Meet honors when the Guardians won the CCC East championship. She was first in the 50 freestyle in 23.94, and was second in the 100 butterfly in 57.10, as both she and her twin sister Riley broke the Glastonbury pool record.
Riley Kudlac, Glastonbury: The senior was a four-time winner at the CCC East Division finals and set a Glastonbury pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.56. She also won the 100 backstroke (59.09), and was part of the winning 200 free (1:40.32), and 400 free (3:48.61) relays.
Marea Li, Amity: The Spartans’ sophomore won the 200 individual medley (2:08.90) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.51) at the SCC championships. She was also part of the runner-up 200 medley (1:49.05) and 200 freestyle (1:42.51) relays.
Kylie McKirryher, Seymour: The freshman won the 100 backstroke (1:00.77), 100 butterfly (57.66) and 200 freestyle relay (1:41.45) at the NVL championships.
Ella Nadeau, Southington: Nadeau, a junior, picked up three victories and helped the 400 freestyle relay team set a CCC West record of 3:43.13 when Southington won the division championship on Saturday. Nadeau won the 100 backstroke (1:00.23) and the 200 medley relay (1:51.98), while finishing second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.11).
Katrine O’Leary, Seymour: The senior won the 50 freestyle
(23.77), 100 freestyle (51.86) and 200 free relay (1:41.45) to help Seymour finish second at the NVL championships.
Annam Olasewere, Staples: The sophomore broke the state record in the 100 freestyle (50.12) and earned Most Outstanding Swimmer honors at the FCIAC meet for the second straight year. She was also runner-up in the 200 freestyle (1:49.93).
Ayaan Olasewere, Staples: The sophomore was first in the 50 freestyle (24.11), was second in the 100 freestyle (52.64) and she and her twin sister were both part of the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:36.86).
Avery Potyrala, Cheshire: The senior won four events to help the Rams win the SCC championship. She was first in the 50 freestyle (24.10) and 100 backstroke (58.03) and was part of the winning 200 medley (1:47.32) and 200 free (1:38.92) relays.
Delaney Reck, Fitch co-op: Reck was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the ECC championship meet after winning the 50 freestyle (24.10), 100 backstroke (59.86), 200 medley relay (1:56.74) and 400 free relay (3:50.30).
Maggie Rutledge, Pomperaug: The senior won two events and helped lead the Panthers to their first SWC championship since 2014. Rutledge was first in the 500 freestyle (5:12.21) and 400 freestyle relay (3:43.46) and second in the 200 freestyle (1:59.92) and 200 freestyle relay (1:43.45).
Tess Sherry, Conard: Sherry, a sophomore, set a CCC West record with a time of 1:07.68 in the 100 breaststroke. She was also second in the 200 medley (1:53.87) and 400 freestyle (3:48.13) relays.
Layla Solberg, Middletown: Solberg, a senior, won the CCC South diving championship with a school record score of 408.3.
Emme Starzman, Woodland: The junior won four races to help Woodland win the NVL championship. She was first in the 200 IM (2:12.90), 100 breaststroke (1:09.49), 200 medley relay (1:54.58) and 400 free relay (3:44.67).
Meghan Tiernan, Hall: The senior won the 200 freestyle in a CCC West record time of 1:55.92. She was also part of the record-setting 200 freestyle relay (1:43.37) and was also second in the 100 backstroke (1:02.46).
Sophia Velleco, Seymour: Velleco, a senior, won the 200 freestyle (1:52.18) and 500 freestyle (5:03.16) and was part of the first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:41.45) during the NVL championships.
Miller Ward, Darien: The junior won the 200 IM (2:06.10) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:47.21) when the Blue Wave finished runner-up at the FCIAC swim finals on Friday. Ward was also second in the 100 fly (55.54) and third in the 400 free relay (3:36.13).
