WINDSOR LOCKS — Breeze Airways announced Tuesday that it would launch on Feb. 16 a route from Bradley International Airport to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, highlighting its ongoing expansion at Connecticut’s flagship airport.

One-way fares for flights from Windsor Locks-based Bradley to Raleigh-Durham will start at $49, with the route scheduled to operate on Thursdays and Sundays. Breeze’s flights will complement existing flights between Bradley and Raleigh-Durham operated by Delta Air Lines and Frontier Airlines.

Breeze also announced Tuesday two other changes for passengers flying from Bradley: the return on Feb. 3 of nonstop service to Pittsburgh and the introduction the same day of one-stop, same-plane ‘BreezeThru’ service to New Orleans.

“Breeze always looks for underserved routes where we can add nonstop flights, low fares and our brand of ‘Seriously Nice’ service,” Tom Doxey, Breeze’s president, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to add more destinations from Hartford.”

Breeze’s expansion at Bradley will additionally include the launch in February of nonstop flights to Phoenix and Vero Beach, Fla., and one-stop, same-plane service to Provo, Utah and San Bernardino, Calif.

From Bradley, Breeze also offers nonstop service to Charleston, S.C.; Columbus, Ohio; Jacksonville, Fla.; Las Vegas; Nashville, Tenn.; Norfolk, Va.; Richmond, Va.; SarasotaBradenton, Fla.; and Savannah, Ga.

Salt Lake City, Utah-headquartered Breeze was founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, whose previous ventures include JetBlue. The airline launched at Bradley in May 2021 and announced last February that Bradley would become one of its hubs. It plans to create more than 200 jobs in the state and could receive a state grant of up to $1.26 million if it meets its hiring goals.
