Ellen Elena Pritula, 90, passed away on November 17, 2022, at home, with her daughter by her side.

Ellen was born in Naples, Italy on March 26, 1932. A few years after graduating high school, she came to the United States in 1955 to find a better life. She settled in Bridgeport, CT, where she met and married Anthony Pritula. She was a very devoted mother to her three children. Ellen also worked part-time, supporting the school lunch program and was involved with the local Democratic Party.

Ellen moved to Bradenton, FL in the early 1980s and enjoyed her retirement years living in the Parkway Villa condominium community. She had many friends and continued her involvement with the Democratic Party as well as with local social events. She spent her last years living in Sunapee, NH, with her daughter, Kim.

She made a strong impression on everyone she met because of the beautiful soul and open heart that she had. Ellen was loving and generous with everyone, willing to give the shirt off her back to someone in need. She had an indomitable spirit and determination, doing what she set her mind to with earnest. Her friendships were lifelong despite time and distance from those that she loved.

Ellen was a devoted Catholic and found comfort and solace in Church, attending Mass several times a week.

She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony Pritula; and her parents, Angelo and Christina Maresca.

Surviving family members are her daughters: Kimberly Pritula of Sunapee, NH, Angela Pritula of Worcester, MA, and Jennifer Brooks of Bradenton, FL; and her siblings: brother, Angelo Maresca of Paris, France; and sister, Viola Maresca of Udine, Italy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 32 Beech Street in Newport, NH, on Monday November 28, 2022, at 11 AM. Burial will be in the spring of 2023 in South Sunapee Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family after Mass at the home of Kim Pritula.

Flowers can be sent to Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, NH 03773, who is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Ellen’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army, in her honor.
