Charles T. Simko Sr.

-

Charles “Chuck” Thomas Simko Sr., beloved husband for over 60 years of Annette Bucci Simko, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2022, at the age of 84, at St. Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1938, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late George Simko and Helen (Dulina) Simko. Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Lynn Simko and her husband Ed Nilsen, Charles Simko Jr. and his wife Janis, and Lisa Simko; his sister, Barbara Attick Murray; seven grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Geoffrey Smith (Kelley), Stephanie Simko, Kimberly Simko, Jenna Fasanella, Kyle Fasanella, and Matthew Fasanella; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, JoAnn Fasanella and his sister, Carol Krushinski. Chuck graduated from Harding High School in 1956 then joined the Army. He returned to Bridgeport as an Army Veteran and shortly after met his wife, who he eventually moved to Stratford with. He was a Materials Control and Distribution Manager at Burndy and after retiring, he spent the past three decades working in his areas of expertise of antique dealing and running estate sales. He was an avid fan of UConn women’s basketball, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Eagles, and any team that would bring him wins in his weekly sports bets. Sports betting was only one of the many hobbies he loved, with others including simply watching sports, playing the daily numbers, going to tag sales, selling all of his treasures at flea markets, taking trips to casinos, and traveling with his wife and family. While he was frequently a winner amongst his sports betting, daily numbers and in the casino, he would consider his biggest win of all to be his children and grandchildren, who truly gave him the greatest pride and joy. He loved nothing more than traveling to different cities to visit each of his children and grandchildren, and he made every effort to attend many important events throughout their lives. He will forever be their biggest fan. We would like to thank St. Vincent’s ICU nurses and doctors for their compassionate care in the last days of Chuck’s life. He will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2022, in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26th at 9:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. James Church 2070 Main Street Stratford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. James Church. For more information or to make an online condolence, please visit www.adzimafuneralhome.com
