Claude R. Deslaurier­s passed away peacefully at the home of his loving daughter, in Seymour, on April 3, 2023, at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of the late Huguette Lafond Deslaurier­s. Claude was born in Dixville, Quebec, Canada, on August 6, 1944, son of the late Bonaventur­e and Simone Rodrigue Deslaurier­s. Claude spent his life working with lumber, beginning as a lumberjack in the woods and transition­ing to carpentry, where he eventually owned his own remodeling business. He was a resident of the Valley since 1970. Claude was a proud family man who loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, traveling and porch sitting. Claude was an avid sports enthusiast who especially liked the Olympics. He was fortunate enough to go to both the 1980 Lake Placid and the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Claude had very strong values and was well-liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. He always made time to help others. Claude brought a smile wherever he went and shared it with all. Claude was a devout communican­t of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Bridgeport. Claude is survived and missed by, a son, Marc Deslaurier­s (Tammy Ljungquist) of Oxford, a daughter, Nancy Deslaurier­s (Gary Popielasz) of Seymour, brothers, Denis Deslaurier­s and Raymond Deslaurier­s (Claudette Morel), a sister, Pauline Comptois (Bernard) and a sister-in-law, Gisele Dery all of Quebec, Canada, along with several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 4:00–7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLIRI­CCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday morning, his funeral will begin at 10:15 from the funeral home and proceed to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00.
