Margaret Mary Mohyde

Margaret Mary (Hartnett) Mohyde, 96, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2023. She was born in Stratford, CT to the late John and Julia Hartnett. Her life was devoted to family, God, education, and helping others. She graduated from Summerfield School, Laurelton Hall, Teacher’s College of Connecticut in New Britain, and the University of Pennsylvania.

She had two careers as a dental hygienist and then many years as a kindergarten teacher at Center, Stonybrook, Garden, Lordship, and Whitney elementary schools in Stratford. She was active in St. Mark’s Church with the Adoration Chapel, the Lord’s Table, the Eucharistic Ministry, and the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers, a longtime blood donor, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed having fun in water aerobics at the Stratford YMCA. She is predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 68 years, Gerard Mohyde. They enjoyed traveling to Europe 14 times, visiting all of the 50 states, and vacationing in Florida. She is survived by her beloved children Eileen Mandell (Lawrence), Sharon Reilly (Richard), Paul Mohyde (Susan); cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Kassay (Andrew), Gerard Mandell, James Mohyde (Andrew Videira), Emily

Mohyde ( John Sample), Mary Dortenzio (Matthew), seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, John Hartnett, Bill Hartnett, and Paul Hartnett.

Friends are invited to attend her wake at Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT, TODAY, September 27, 2023 4:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road in Trumbull.
