Shelton police probe fatal pedestrian hit-and-run

Shelton Police said Peterson was on her way home from work at Stop & Shop in Ansonia just after midnight on Jan. 6 when she was hit by a car while walking to her house a few hundred feet away. The vehicle left the scene, according to police.

“We subsequent­ly identified the driver, and she is cooperatin­g with police,” said Detective Richard Bango. “We are expected an arrest in the near future.”

Bango would not comment on how authoritie­s identified the driver or the potential charges, saying only the driver is a woman.

Born Jan. 23, 1959, in Laconia, N.H., Peterson was the daughter of

James E. Perry Jr. previously of Monroe and Patricia A. Perry, previously of Gilford, N.H.

Peterson was 4 when her family moved to Bridgeport, and she remained in Connecticu­t for the rest of her life. She graduated from St. Augustine’s

School in 1973 and Bassick High School in 1977.

Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her first grandchild, PJ; and her stepmother, Mary Perry previously of Beacon Falls.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jillian Savage and her fiancé Jeremy Savage of Massillon, Ohio, Jessica Peterson and her partner Luis Nunez of Shelton; her two grandchild­ren, Hailey Rosado and Nathan Nunez of Shelton, her siblings Sandra Zalik and her husband Steven of Stratford, Scott Perry of Shaftsbury, Vt., James E Perry III of Monroe and Derek Perry and his wife Lindsey Garcia of Nashville Tenn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews — Henry Perry, James Perry, Hannah Perry, Ethan Perry, Maya Perry and Michael Perry.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 15 at St. Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport. Interment will be private.
