Mary Ann Krajcik Hmura

Mary Ann Krajcik Hmura, R.N., age 71, of Monroe, beloved wife of Stephen Hmura, died on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Krajcik. She was a graduate of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Girls High School and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. Mary Ann was also a graduate of the University of Bridgeport where she earned her bachelor and master degrees in nursing. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Bridgeport Hospital for over 40 years.

Mary Ann had enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed her vegetable garden. Mary Ann was eager to share her knowledge and love of plants with others. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a member of the Holy Name Of Jesus Ladies Guild and also Holy Name of Jesus Choir.

The last few years had been Mary Ann’s happiest! She and Stephen married two years ago and she was enjoying her new life and retirement.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved goddaughters, Kimberley Reyes and Christina Reyes; devoted friend, Tannya Jaramillo; and her beloved “grand-niece”, Sophia Reyes.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Of Jesus Church with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Albert Pinciaro. Due to church renovations, the Mass will be held in the church hall located behind the church on College Street. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford.
