A Fan + A Plan
With a design plan in place and construction in full swing, our CB Project House homeowner turns her attention to an important design detail.
THE VAULT
Function
“Our son’s bedroom [is] an average-sized room with a tall ceiling, so we wanted something dramatic: A show stopper!”
Form
“In addition to the statement that it makes in our son’s room, we needed the fan to be in the matte-black option. So that was another “check mark” off the list.” Now that design blogger Katie Busenitz and her husband, Ryan,
are more than halfway through their family’s Social Circle, GA, cottage construction, they’re ready to tackle some of the more fun design considerations — like the two large ceiling fans gracing their great room and son’s bedroom. “Both [of the fans we chose] have industrial vibes and are very cool,” says Katie. Here’s a little more info on how she’s designing around these two striking focal points:
THE HFC 96
Function
“Because our living room is so huge (48 feet long by 30 feet wide), we needed something that would pack a punch, and the HFC 96 was the perfect option,” says Katie. “We wanted to make sure the fan we chose would produce enough wind to cool down the entire room very quickly.”
Form
Katie is softening the look of the industrial fan with layers of texture, wood beams and styling featuring plenty of greenery. As exemplified by the fireplace, the black-and-white color story of the home works great with the fan style as well.
