FROM THE EDITOR
THERE’S NO SEASON THAT MAKES ME THINK OF HOME MORE THAN FALL. Everything guides us back home in autumn. The weather ushers us inside, the food beckons us to seek comfort and the gatherings of fall turn our attention back to hosting and welcoming loved ones. To me, that’s the beauty of the season.
With this come some of the loveliest cottage textures: thick chunky knits, cozy wools and laid-back flannel. I love to celebrate gorgeous wood textures in the fall, and when I venture out to a flea market or barn sale, you better believe I’m picking up something old and wooden.
When we put together this issue, we sought to share examples of the coziest cottages we could find. These are homes that exemplify fall style in looks but also in spirit, homes where the décor and renovations bear the marks of family. Where rooms are designed to bring people together and tell a story of what was and how it came to be.
I hope you find plenty of inspiration in these pages to make this homecoming season one that is meaningful and beautiful.
