“The inclusion of metallic details was sparked after we selected the modern light fixture.
We needed to make sure it made a statement but didn’t seem random in the space.”
ELEGANT KITCHEN
The kitchen introduced a unique challenge because there was a wraparound bar with a column right in the middle. “It made you feel like you were trapped in the kitchen,” Lauren says. After they opened up the space and removed the column, Bobbi now has a large workspace and can hang out with her family while she cooks. With the new layout in place, Lauren implemented a striking color scheme. She says, “The black color in the kitchen was selected because Bobbi didn’t want a basic white kitchen—she wanted contrast and depth.”
Enter Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. A custom black hood and two black islands introduce the shade, while Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and cabinets painted Sherwin Williams Greek Villa lighten the area. For the lighting, Lauren says, “It needed to be functional as well as defining. We went for two glam brass shell pendants over the working island and a heavy statement fixture over the eating island.”The stylish kitchen is also uniquely functional. In addition to a commercial range and microwave drawer, Bobbi had two dishwashers installed. Lauren says, “Never a dish in the sink, ever!”
With its modern amenities, open layout and chic design, the home is refreshingly stylish and is now on the cutting edge of design. “The homeowners were open to anything,” Lauren says. “They were truly a joy to work with.”
