Set a seasonal table that’s merry and bright
Set a festive table in no time with these easy cheats.
Whether it’s for one of many seasonal gatherings with friends or even Christmas breakfast with the family,
creating a festive—and impressive—holiday table is part of the magic of the season. While floral designer Janice Morrow’s woodland winter-inspired table was crafted with lots of tender, loving expert care, her ideas will help anyone create a festive setting.
LOAD UP ON GREENS
From cedar to pine and every seasonal green in between, you can’t go wrong with stockpiling fresh greenery. You can pull some snips from the tree or trim a garland to put on your table, and you’ll be amazed how much luxury it adds to a setting. “I love natural elements,” Janice says. “I always use fresh cedar in the house during the holidays. It makes the house smell wonderful.”
ROSES ARE EVERYTHING
“I love white roses for their simplicity,” she says. “They are easy to find, and they smell nice and last a long time.” Let’s face it, who doesn’t feel a little extra special when roses are around?
MIX AND MATCH
The great thing about holiday décor is that everything can work together. Mix casual everyday plates with fun Christmas patterns and a few elegant pieces like silver, and voilà, a grab-and-go approach with a slaved-all-day look.
LAYER UP
The easiest way to create a wow moment? Fill up your vertical space. Janice used simple white boxes paired with woodcut slices as improvised cake stands to display her sweets. You could do this with your favorite holiday platters and trays to give your table a dynamic arrangement in a pinch!
