Know Your Terms
• Exposed rafter tails: The ends of the rafter boards, which you can see on the lower roofline but not the upper one. This is a Craftsman style feature; the enclosed rafter tails are from the original Victorian structure.
• Craftsman style windows: Rectangular windows that are shorter with more width. Italianate windows tend to be tall and skinny.
• Tapered columns: Columns that are wider at the bottom and narrower at the top, as seen on this porch.
