Sarah’s Kitchen Storage Tips
Be intentional. Carefully considering where to put your items will help increase functionality and minimize stress during weeknight meals or hosting events. “Reducing steps in the kitchen should be a key goal for your new kitchen,” she says.
Make it accessible. Think about who will need access to what, and make sure things are available in a safe and efficient manner. “Everyone will appreciate being able to reach things easily in the kitchen,” she says.
Go vertical. Prevent your items from getting buried by creating opportunities for vertical slot storage. “There are so many items that we use in the kitchen every day that are large and flat,” she says. Your cutting boards, cookie sheets and large pans and lids will thank you!
Utilize base cabinets. Instead of filling your walls with bulky cabinets, use base cabinets for your storage needs. “Reducing wall cabinets leaves room for bigger windows and openings,” she says. Max out your base cabinet storage with drawers and pullouts for ease of access.
