Instead of buying seasonal art, make it yourself with Bonnie’s Christmas tree painting tutorial.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Canvas

• Sponge brush

• Small bowl of water

• ½-inch nylon artist brush

• Palette knife

• Sheetrock mud

• Paint (gray, tan, green, white and

black)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

1. Paint your background. Using a damp sponge brush, apply some tan paint to the top of your canvas to create the sky. Rinse out your brush and then apply green paint to the rest of the canvas. Don’t be afraid to create brush strokes and have lighter/darker areas for depth. You want a messy look. 2. Using the damp artist brush, add touches of gray paint to the sky and the bottom of your canvas to create a snowy ground. Then, shape your trees using plain green paint and some green paint mixed with black to look like branches.

3. Using upward strokes with the palette knife, brush the sheetrock mud onto your tree branches, making sure some of the green background shows through.

4. Once the mud dries, you can add white paint to the branches and ground to create a snowy effect. Let it dry and enjoy your new creation!
