Cranberry and Orange Sparkler

- RECIPE BY JULIA CHARLES

This is the ideal companion to a celebratory breakfast or brunch. It’s light, refreshing and, if you use an Italian vino frizzante, it will be a little lower in alcohol than a prosecco or champagne-based cocktail— so perfect for drinking before midday!

10 ml (¼ oz.) Cointreau or other orange-flavored liqueur 40 ml (1½ oz.) cranberry juice, well chilled 80–100 ml (2½ –3 1/3 oz.) lightly sparkling rosé, well chilled (an Italian rosato vino frizzante works well) Orange zest and/or fresh cranberries as garnish

Pour the Cointreau and cranberry juice into a champagne flute and top up with cold sparkling rosé. Garnish with a twist of orange zest and/or a few fresh cranberries on a cocktail stick. Serve immediately.

?? ?? This cranberry-and-orange sparkler is perfect for brunch. It’s light, bright and refreshing— to start your day off right. Julia Charles recommends an Italian vino frizzante to keep it lower in alcohol than a regular champagne-based cocktail.
