Th­ese sprout up in the spring and grow quickly. They flower and try to set hun­dreds to thou­sands of seeds be­fore they die in late fall. Even af­ter the plants die, their seeds can stay in the soil for years, just wait­ing for the right con­di­tions to ger­mi­nate so they can sprout to life.
