PROVENANCE: Found among her great aunt’s belongings

WHAT IT IS: Antiques Roadshow’s executive producer Marsha Bemko checked in with appraiser Leila Dunbar and reports that you have a collection of Coca-Cola Santa paper bottle rings from the 1930s–1940s. Illustrator Haddon Sundblom’s iconic Coca-Cola Santa Claus debuted in 1931 (see sidebar, page 32) and was adapted for advertising in magazines and on store displays, billboards, posters, calendars, and even plush dolls. Leila tells us your paper rings were hung on individual bottles of Coca-Cola in store displays, promoting the drink as a holiday staple for entertaining and for giving.

WHAT IT’S WORTH: $5 to $25 each, depending on condition
